Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Iowa

I’m intrigued by the NASA astronaut who told Daniel that the one thing she didn’t miss in space was her phone. I bet Daniel’s students can relate, spending 10 hours per day on screen time, rapidly shifting attention all day long. Yet, the more connected we are digitally, the more disconnected we become as humans.

But the solution isn’t complicated—it’s to be intentional. Leave our phone behind more often. Listen carefully to the person in front of us. Work on the most meaningful things first. All simple ideas. Please take it seriously.
